Mission, Vision, Values.

Manufacturers. Users. Battery Experts

Our Mission

Our mission is “to accelerate the adoption of safe maritime battery solutions to enable emission reductions.” It all begins with “enabling emission reductions.” Batteries are only part of the solutions that we need to reduce the emissions in shipping, but it is a solution that can be applied to almost every time of ship. Working in the maritime industry is not without dangers. Even with all the currently ongoing efforts to make working at sea safe for everyone still accidents happen. We are striving to make batteries not one of the reasons why accidents happen on board ships. We do this by collaborating to improve everyone’s understanding of safe use of batteries on ships. Finally, we aim to accelerate the adoption of batteries. As the impact of climate change is getting more noticeable around the world, we need to push ourselves to increase the speed of transitioning to a maritime industry without emissions.

Our Vision

The Leading Neutral Advocate

Our vision is “to be the leading neutral advocate for maritime battery technology globally.” We are a forum that is open to everyone who wants to collaborate on sharing knowledge and information about maritime battery technology. We do not prefer certain technologies, as we need to try all possible solutions for onboard energy storage that can help the maritime industry towards a zero-emission future.

Our members are active in every corner of the world, and you can find battery powered ships sailing around the world from the North to South and from East to West. By having a strong focus on sharing our information online it is possible for everyone to benefit from joining the Maritime Battery Forum, no matter where you’re located. The world is up for a significant challenge to decarbonize shipping and the MBF is here to make at least the step towards installing batteries on board easier for everyone.
