Working Groups
The MBF facilitates collaboration between our members through our working groups. Current challenges or topics requiring a combined effort from the industry to improve, clarify, or standardize are being addressed by these working groups. All MBF members are welcome to join the working groups of their specific interest.
-
Battery Safety
The Battery Safety working group is aimed at the continuous improvement of safety of maritime batteries and the knowledge thereof throughout the industry. This working group discusses battery system design challenges, safe integration of batteries on board ships, safety procedures in case of an incident, incident analysis, firefighting, and much more.
-
Containerized batteries
The Containerized batteries working group is a collaboration between members of the Maritime Battery Forum to identify the different requirements for swappable battery containers on board different types of maritime applications, and to create an overview of the different interfaces between container and ship, and their available standards.
-
Charging
There currently are no standards for charging battery powered ships. The charging working group is aimed at investigating the maritime charging landscape and identify the different charging standards that could benefit the acceleration of maritime battery installations.
-
Ocean-going cargo ships with batteries
The MBF is collaborating with CIMAC on a joint white paper on the use of batteries on board ocean-going cargo ships. The goal is to determine the opportunities, requirements, and limitations of batteries on these types of ships.
