Edda Wind Joins the Maritime Battery Forum
The Maritime Battery Forum is excited to announce that Edda Wind is the newest addition to our global community of maritime battery enablers! Even more of note is the position of the MBF board chairperson, Ellen Sofie Ottesen, as the Chief Technology Officer at Edda Wind.
Edda Wind is a provider of purpose-built Service Operation Vessels (SOV) and Commissioning Service Operation vessels (CSOV) to the global offshore wind market since 2015. The vessels accommodate wind turbine technicians and provide services during the commissioning and operation of offshore wind farms. The company owns and operates six vessels, three SOVs and three CSOVs. Additionally, Edda Wind has eight vessels currently under construction, consisting of one SOV and seven CSOVs.
By combining innovative technical solutions and years of maritime experience, the company provides service operation vessels and high-quality service to the global offshore wind industry, thereby enabling their clients to generate renewable energy and successfully accelerate the transition to sustainable energy production.
Edda Wind focuses on minimizing our carbon footprint when designing vessels. By preparing all newly built vessels for zero-emissions (minimum of 30% Greenhouse gasses reduction compared to the previous generation offshore wind service vessels), the company continues to show its dedication to developing new, sustainable technologies without compromising operational capabilities or cost competitiveness. For Edda Wind’s first newbuild in 2022, it was no brainer to include batteries as a part of the power plant.
As a battery user and operator as well as having a prominent place in the decision making of the MBF, Edda Wind hopes to keep up with and influence the development of maritime battery technology as a member of the Maritime Battery Forum. In return, discuss experiences, share knowledge and keep the focus on batteries as a safe and efficient option for ship owners and operators.
Welcome to the MBF, Edda Wind!
