Universidad Austral de Chile joins MBF as first observer from South America

The Maritime Battery Forum is proud to announce the first observer from South America to join in our global network of maritime battery enablers. The Universidad Austral de Chile is performing research on the electrification of the Chilean fleet and the MBF is excited to assist them in exploring the developments in maritime battery technology.

The MBF aims to promote the use of large battery systems on board of ships and we do this by facilitating the sharing of knowledge between our members of observers. Universities play an important role in the education of the naval architects of the future and therefore we are happy for the Universidad Austral de Chile to have joined us as an observer. The electrification of the maritime industry is a global development and the efforts performed by the researchers in Chile are an excellent example of this.

The MBF hopes that this will be the first of many more South American members and observers to join our network in the exciting years to come, striving for the electrification of ships around the world.
