Overview of the battery powered ferry market in the European Union

In total there are 176 battery powered ferries included in the MBF Ship Register which are operating in EU countries. This report shows a variety of statistics related to these 176 battery powered ferries from different perspectives. The statistics are shown per number of delivered ships, and per installed battery capacity in kWh.

  • The number of ships delivered with batteries per year

  • The total number of ships delivered with batteries (total fleet size)

  • The percentage of different categories delivered per year

3 Graphs show the statistics per installed battery capacity:

  • The installed capacity on board ships per year

  • The total installed capacity on all ships combined

  • The average installed capacity per ship, per category

Additionally, in the last section the number of battery powered ferries are shown per country where the ferry has been built.
