Co-Founder, Electroder


Mr. Hu co-founded Electroder, a technology company focuses on battery cell design and development, and is currently running the company’s global business. Electroder’s shareholders include top venture capitals such as Robert Bosch Venture Capital. In 2023, the company is selected as one of the 100 technology pioneers by the World Economic Forum. Mr. Hu has been leading his team completing cell design projects for clients, developing advanced design tools for global users, and advising them in cell development process. Mr. Hu led his company to join the Global Battery Alliance as its first member focusing on battery design and development. Before founding Electroder, he had a decade of experience in manufacturing and technology and held a variety of management roles globally. Mr. Hu graduated with an MBA degree from Cornell University and a bachelor’s degree of engineering from Beijing University of Technology.

Review of cell format progression and cell design for marine application


Lithium-ion battery cell, as a critical component for E-mobility, plays a critical role in the end-application performance and accounts for significant portion of cost. Design the cell to specific marine application is essential. This presentation reviews the progression of lithium-ion cell format and support the industry by creating a clearer picture overtime as well as uncovering some latest development. It will also address how to design batteries for a more extended use related to lifetime, with special attention to maritime use and swappable battery systems.
