Webinar - "Current Direct - a Horizon 2020 initiative"

Join us for the second webinar of the year on April 22nd at 14:00 CET.

Short about the topic:

Spear Power Systems will give us an introduction to Current Direct, a project funded under the European Commission’s Horizon 2020 initiative with the goal of greatly accelerating market adoption of clean sustainable energy in the marine industry.  The project aims to accomplish this by reducing the barriers for entry, increasing operational flexibility, and allowing the market to achieve ever increasing emission targets while simultaneously reducing operating costs.  Through Current Direct a swappable containerized energy storage system with ½ the cost/kWh and 3X the energy compared to today’s certified maritime containers will be developed using novel technologies such as 3D printed cell, wireless smart cell supervisors, and innovative composite materials.  Current Direct will operate on an Energy-as-a-Service ecosystem allowing vessel owners / operators to easily incorporate clean energy with minimal capital investment while also providing standardized retrofit kits and a distributed shoreside swapping network.  The standardized interfaces and certification methodology developed will further increase market competitiveness and accelerate a transition to a sustainable future.
