Aluminium-plastic connection for battery cooling - Online meeting

Aluminium-plastic connection for battery cooling

Join us for a meeting with Erwin Quarder Systemtechnik who will introduce us to their innovative technology for bonding aluminium and plastic and how this can be used for battery cooling.

Possible benefits of this technology are:

  • The combination of aluminium and plastic leads to almost design-free water management possibilities (low temperature differences, active preference of hot spots)

  • Customized cooling plate (scalable system) with low tolerances, for round as well as prismatic and pouch cells

  • Integration of the cold plate into the housing system, as well as other functions, such as busbar, brackets, or the tubing

  • Cost-effective connection technology (standardized quick connection technology)

  • Elimination of complex assembly and sealing processes

  • A perfectly light connection - helium-tight, no micro-leakage at the lowest possible price

This will be on online meeting for MBF members only.

The meeting will be held on Teams, on Wednesday 26 April from 3-4pm (CET)

If you wish to join, please send a request for the meeting invitation to director@maritimebatteryforum.com

WATTS UP 2023 - Rotterdam

WATTS UP 2023

8-9 March 2023 - Rotterdam, Netherlands

WATTS UP 2023 will be the first edition of the annual conference of the Maritime Battery Forum outside of Norway. The conference will be held at the SS Rotterdam, a 228 m long steam ship from the 1950s, which now is being used as a hotel in the city of Rotterdam. What better location is there to talk about maritime batteries than this? Besides the latest updates on the developments of batteries for the marine industry, as always we will also go on board of a battery powered ship. More about this will follow later!

Click on the button below for more information on tickets, program, speakers, venue and sponsor opportunities!

About WATTS UP

WATTS UP is the annual 2-day conference organized by the Maritime Battery Forum. It is the place to get the latest updates on maritime battery technology developments, learn about different maritime applications using batteries, and meet with maritime battery experts from over the whole world. Standard on the agenda at WATTS UP is a visit to a battery powered ship, to get a real feeling of how the technology is developing, and to be able to see, feel and hear the benefits of electric propulsion on board ships.

Webinar - Wattlab - Solar hatches for inland vessels

Join us on Wednesday May 25th from 4-5pm (CET) for the webinar from Wattlab about their solar hatches for inland vessels.

Improving the energy efficiency of ships is an important method for reducing the emissions from the maritime industry. Being able to produce (part of) the energy required for your ship can be a significant benefit to the overall energy efficiency. Wattlab is helping shipowners to achieve this by integrating solar hatches on inland vessels.

For more information about Wattlab, join the webinar, or visit their website: Wattlab

MBF members can join the webinar by clicking on the link in the event in the member area of our website: MBF webinar - Wattlab - Solar hatches for inland vessels — Maritime Battery Forum

Battery Safety JIP meeting

The Battery Safety JIP is a collaboration between MBF members to increase the general knowledge regarding the safety of maritime batteries, as well as batteries in a maritime environment.

The next meeting will be on Friday May 20th at 3pm (CET)

A Maritime Battery Incident Database is being created, if you have information about an incident with batteries on board of a ship, please contact director@maritimebatteryforum.com

The project is now focussing on two different main topics, safe integration of batteries on board of ships, and emergency response of battery related incidents on board of ships.

If you want to be part of the Battery Safety JIP, please contact director@maritimebatteryforum.com

Battery Safety JIP meeting

Battery Safety JIP meeting

Every 3rd Friday of the month the MBF Battery Safety Joint Industry Project has a meeting to discuss the next steps in their aim to increase the safety of maritime batteries.

The current objective is to gather input for the Maritime Battery Incident Database and to discuss the continuation of the project in two different working groups.

One working group will be focussed on the integration of batteries on board of ships. They will discuss the current perspective on safety features and determine what knowledge will be needed to further increase the safety of maritime battery systems.

The second working group will be focussed on the emergency response in case of a battery incident on board of ships. What are the preferred, effective procedures to respond to battery fires, whether they are batteries integrated into the ship, or as cargo. Recent events such as the sinking of the Felicity Ace will be used as input for this.

If you want to be part of the Battery Safety JIP, please contact director@maritimebatteryforum.com
