On September 26, the MBF extraordinary annual meeting and member meeting will be carried out at the ABB Office in Billingstad, Norway.

Status & where are we heading?

Batteries, considered as a green solution, are one of the technologies being frequently discussed with regards to the green shift. As we are well aware, batteries are not the only solution, but part of the solution. In the Ship Register, we see that at least 75% of the battery projects are hybrid. The meeting will kick off with a status update from the forum - where are we now and where are we going?

Green technologies & remote services

ABB is the host of this member meeting, and is one of the battery system integrators. In addition, to continuously working to improve their battery solutions, ABB is also working with other "green" solutions, such as hydrogen. ABB will give a presentation about their fuel cell development program and pilot projects, and how they see that fuel cells and batteries are complimenting technologies for the maritime industry. At Billingstad, ABB has one of their operational centers where they perform remote services and monitoring for a large number of vessels. We are invited to take a tour around this center to see how it works.

Discussion - how to navigate into the future?
Like previous member meetings we have included time for discussions. Last time we discussed how we can link academia with the industry. At this meeting we would like to discuss what challenges the maritime batteries are currently facing in the market. Is it charging, financing, technical, commercial issues?
