MCS Workshop - Electrification of Ports and Opportunities for the Marine Industry

This virtual workshop will be the fourth of a series of workshops for stakeholders who are interested in the electrification of the marine industry and the development of a global high power charging standard for marine applications, leveraging the Megawatt Charging System (MCS). The workshop will help build a baseline of understanding about MCS, discuss electrification of ports, and foster consensus and alignment around the need for a larger international collaboration.  This workshop will be specifically tailored for the Asia Pacific/ANZ maritime markets.

The workshop intends to establish a foundational understanding of MCS, pinpoint gaps and opportunities across operational, technical, and regulatory domains for marine MCS, and foster consensus for international collaboration. The workshop series focuses on commercial, DC fast charging for battery-driven marine vessels, with an emphasis on short-haul journeys like ferries, tugs, freshwater bulkers, river cruises, and offshore vessels.
