Botree Cycling joins the Maritime Battery Forum as first member from Asia

The electrification of the maritime industry is a global trend. Therefore the Maritime Battery Forum is proud to announce the first member from Asia to have joined our global network of maritime battery enablers. We welcome Botree Cycling to the MBF and we are looking forward to start this new collaboration!

About Botree Cycling

Botree Cycling was founded with the aim of providing a full solution for the recycling of critical battery materials. Through the innovation of separation system and intelligent equipment, Botree Cycling enables recycle enterprises, electric vehicle enterprises, electric ship enterprises, battery manufacturers and other entities responsible for recycling to realize short, closed and sustainable cycle of battery materials.

Botree Cycling is composed by experienced experts from leading institutions, namely Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), KU Leuven, Waseda University and etc. Based on long-term research on battery materials preparation, critical metal separation and purification, extractant synthesis and carbon footprint assessment, Botree Cycling has completed the industrial and large-scale application for Li-ion batteries recycling from mechanical size reduction, hydrometallurgical recycling to material regeneration. Moreover, we have developed recycling processes for hydrogen fuel cells and solid-state batteries, as well as a novel short separation process for laterite nickel ore and established a complete life cycle assessment (LCA) system for EV batteries complying with international standards.

Botree Cycling provides industrial and technical consulting, intelligent mobile recycling equipment (500-5,000 tons battery packs/year) and large-scale engineering recycling facilities (10,000-100,000 tons battery packs/year) design and installation. We also help our customer build a complete system for responsible sourcing, life cycle assessment, carbon emission reduction and IREC renewable energy certificate trading. Botree Cycling has already established a solid customer base, among which nearly 10 are the world’s top 500 companies in the new energy fields. By recycling of critical battery materials and supporting circular design of next generation batteries, Botree Cycling is working with the entire industry chain to build a truly sustainable and carbon-neutral future.

In 2019, Botree Cycling became the First Chinese company participant of the ‘International Energy Agency Hybrid and Electric Vehicle Technology Collaboration Programme (IEA HEV-TCP) Task 40 Critical Raw Materials for Electric Vehicles (CRM4EV)’ and In Dec of 2021, IEA HEV-TCP Task 48 Battery Swapping initiated by Botree Cycling was announced. Meanwhile, Botree Cycling is one main author unit of “Blue Book on the Recycling of Spent Power Lithium-ion Batteries”, “Recycling of Power Lithium-Ion Batteries”, “R&D Trends in Next Generation Batteries from the Perspective of Leading Chinese Researchers”, and committee member of ISO/TC333 Lithium.
