Enova Request for Input - Charging Facilities for Vessels Support Scheme
A new support programme is being planned under the name ‘Charging facilities for vessels’ and Enova is now seeking input from players in the market before finalising the conditions for support.
The programme will support operators who want to establish publicly accessible charging facilities for vessels along the coast. The launch of the new support programme is planned by the end of 2024.
The new support programme will include:
Support for investment in infrastructure for charging batteries for propulsion in vessels in commercial operation. The facility must be established in a Norwegian harbour, and can be part of a multipurpose facility.
Requirement for the charging infrastructure to be publicly available on market terms
Maximum support rate of up to 60 per cent of approved investment costs
Competition for funding
2-3 application rounds per year
Background and purpose of the support programme
Access to charging facilities is a barrier to the acquisition and use of electric vessels. Enova will now contribute to the establishment of more publicly accessible charging facilities for maritime transport through the new support programme ‘Charging facilities for vessels’.
The support programme will contribute to increased knowledge about charging vessels and make the market more mature by establishing more publicly accessible charging facilities. The programme aims to encourage more people to choose electric vessels and reduce greenhouse gas emissions from maritime transport by increasing the use of batteries for emission-free propulsion.
The support scheme is a supplement to the existing support programme ‘Battery in zero-emission ships’ where Enova supports vessels with batteries, either individually or together with the necessary dedicated infrastructure. Together, the support programmes will make battery electrification more attractive and competitive, and accelerate the green transition of shipping.
Deadline for sending input: 23 October
