Indian Register of Shipping (IRS) joins the Maritime Battery Forum

The Maritime Battery Forum is pleased to announce that the Indian Register of Shipping (IRS) has joined our global network of maritime battery enablers.

The IRS is an international ship Classification Society providing ship classification and certification as well as technical inspection services. As a Member of the International Association of Classification Societies (IACS), the IRS covers a wide range of shipping, offshore and industrial projects.

By joining the forum, the IRS will gain access and interact with the wide and diverse MBF community, who represent the entire maritime battery value chain and through active participation enhance/ improve their rules in line with technology development and end user requirements.

As the maritime industry is in process of replacing conventional power systems with alternative power sources, with battery systems being one of the preferred options, the IRS with their expertise can share its insights in challenges faced by the industry, discuss technical issues, class rules and regulations which could assist the forum in development of better solutions.
