WHAT HAPPENED IN NOVEMEBR?

November started with the first in-person MBF member meeting in the Americas. On the 1st of November a group of 20 MBF members gathered in Houston the evening before the Electric & Hybrid Marine Expo North America. Thanks to everyone who joined us, it was a pleasure to talk about batteries and make new connections. The MBF Americas hub is clearly growing, and we will be meeting each other again soon!

On 2 and 3 November the Electric & Hybrid Marine Expo took place in Houston. Although in size of exhibition a bit smaller compared to the Amsterdam edition last June, it was still a good show. Clearly the electrification of the maritime industry in North America is picking up speed. The “Which battery for your ship?” session was well attended, thanks to the interesting presentations and discussion of the speakers.

On the 9th of November the MBF hosted a workshop on ‘How to prevent battery failures’ in collaboration with our member ACCURE Battery Intelligence. Thank you, Kai-Philip, for informing us on the importance and possibilities of battery diagnostics!

Besides all these activities, we also have 5 new members since this month: Botree Cycling, Houlder Limited, FIFI4MARINE, AYK Energy and Crowley.

Welcome to the Maritime Battery Forum!

MBF is looking for an intern

We are looking for an intern to help us with keeping our Ship Register up to date. Do you know, or are you someone who can help us with:

  • Improving the quality of existing data

  • Maintaining the data and adding new battery powered ships to the database

  • Analyse the growth and trends in the development of battery powered ships and create valuable content and statistics for the MBF and its members

  • Think of creative new ways to visualize the data

Tool to compare ships with different energy carriers on its social and environmental impact

Timo Rodermond is a student Maritime Technology at the Delft University of Technology. For his Master’s thesis he is interested in developing a tool which compares ships with different energy carriers on its social and environmental impact, to support in early design decisions. Are you interested in collaborating with Timo on this topic, please reach out to him via timorodermond@gmail.com or +31641011929.
